Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) recently highlighted two manufacturing businesses in her district after touring their facilities and being impressed by their operations.
“Made in America has a whole new meaning to me," Parkhurst wrote on her Facebook page. "Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tour local businesses, Kinder Morgan and Nucor Steel Co Kankakee Inc.”
Kinder Morgan is a leading North American energy infrastructure company, according to its website, and has a terminal for its Cochin pipeline system in Kankakee County. The Kankakee terminal helps move light condensate, up to 95,000 barrels per day, through the U.S. to Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta, Canada.
Nucor Steel Co. Kankakee is part of the Nucor Corporation, which, according to its website, is the largest recycler in North America. In Kankakee, the company manufactures steel billets and reinforcing and merchant bars.
“Kinder Morgan is utilizing some amazing technology in their operations and I want to give them kudos for their commitment to transparency and safety,” Parkhurst wrote. “I was also quite inspired by Nucor's commitment to safety, recycling, teamwork and community job growth. Thank you to all the hard-working Nucor employees and the countless others like them who are the backbone of Illinois manufacturing.”
