Village of Grant Park Board of Trustees met Jan. 3.

Here is the minutes as provided by the Board:

6:00PM    Meeting called to order/Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all present except Ms. Dickson

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 12/07/16 meeting

Motion: Morgan    2nd: Morse    Motion Carried 5-0

Public Comments:

Gerry Morgan, representing the Grant Park Library gave an update on the progress at the Library. As of December 15, 2016, the Library is online, and access is 24/7. Library Cards are reciprocal at many area Library’s, and book reservations, and other services are available online.

*Motion to approve bills for payment:  <12/16/16 General Fund $34,897.29, Sewer $9,078.82,

<1/03/17 General Fund $33,788.99, Sewer $6,322.84. Payroll <12/03/16 $15,496.29, Stipend <12/15/16 $1,275, Payroll <12/17/16 $14,311.57, Payroll < 12/31/16 $14,016.29, Stipend <1/03/17 $1,395.00 Festival Fund $1,250.00

Motion: Veldhuizen     2nd: Morgan     Motion carried 5-0    

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman:   Gave a report of candidates for the April 4th election, as follows

Village President,    Martin Roth, Adam Ekhoff

Clerk:   Scott Dillman

Trustee, 2 year term, William Coats, Dana Dickson (one positon open)

Trustee, 4 year term   William Gerry Morgan,  (3 positions open)

Streets & Alleys, Veldhuizen: no report

Finance, Dickson: Absent      Auditor due in 1/17/17

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan:   Lagoon is doing fine, chlorine tank has been filled, the bypass testing has passed EPA standards, and all equipment damaged by the lightning strike has been replaced. The “Not For Profit” foundation has received several donations. Work will start soon on rehabbing the recently acquired sleigh for next winter, and discussion was made on updating the Grant Park signs on each edge of town.

Building & Grounds, Wold:  Heating and Air Conditioning work will begin at the Community Center on January 16th.  Some painting and preparation begins next week.  Christmas Day dinners served 75 people, and Bob Schurman was thanked for all his work for this effort.

Vote to hire Kathy Buttle tabled per Pres. Roth

*Motion to purchase new tables and chairs for the Community Center with funds raised from Fest Committee not to exceed $2500.

Ordinance, Morse: no report

Law Enforcement, Malkowski: 131 police calls in December

Pres. Roth: Proposed rental increase for railroad property used by the Village has been renegotiated down to $1000 annual, 2% annual increase, payable in May.  Also made was a Proclamation declaring

January 22-28 “School Choice Week”.

*Motion to hire Kathy Buttle part time office position at $10/hr
