Kankakee Community College's center in Watseka has a summer of learning planned, offering everything from improving English skills and learning mathematical equations to enhancing health care and talking in front of others.
Classes at the Miner South Extension Center include Introductory Speech from 5:30 to 8:55 p.m. on Wednesdays from May 22 through June 28, English I from 5:30 to 8:10 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday from June 6 to July 27, Basic Algebra from 5 p.m. to 8:50 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays between June 6 and July 27, Nursing Assistant from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday between June 5 and July 27, and Microsoft Office Suite from 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays from June 6 to July 25.
The center is located at 1488 E Walnut St. in Watseka. Registration and more information are available from 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursdays, and by appointment. Prospective students may also call 815-802-8780.
In addition to the Miner Center, the accredited institution operates its Riverfront Campus and a manufacturing and industrial technology center in Kankakee, and a North Extension Center in Bradley.
