The Economic Alliance of Kankakee County has relaunched WorkKankakee.org, a website that allows job seekers, students and educators to connect with information about job opportunities, scholarships and workforce training, the alliance announced recently.
“It was created in large part to get the word out about the approximately 3,000 job listings posted on a monthly basis for the community,” Lisa Wogan, director of marketing and business attraction for the alliance, said. “The redeveloped site offers enhanced information about the now 4,000 monthly job listings countywide along with news about local internships, grants and scholarships, training/degree options, career fairs, and more.”
Employers can post open jobs for free on the portal, while students, educators and job seekers can find information tailored to their needs. The site is a collaborative effort with local organizations like the Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board and the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley, and also provides for those who would like to support the initiative’s goals through donations, mentorships and sponsorships.
“Both our existing industries and industrial prospects are telling us that they need to see evidence of a strong talent pipeline in order to confidently pursue new investment in our community,” Alliance President and CEO Tim Nugent said. “…Right now, Kankakee County is top 10 percent in the nation for attracting and developing talent. We certainly aim to maintain that status, and this site is one important means to that end.”
