Kankakee School District 111 Board of Education met April 18.

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Kankakee School District No. 111, Kankakee County, Illinois, was held at 6:00 p.m. in Room 217 at Lincoln Cultural Center, 240 Warren Avenue, Kankakee, Illinois.
Roll Call:
Members present: John Coghlan
Jess Gathing, Jr.

Barbara A. Wells, Secretary
Members absent: Amelia Davis, Vice President
A quorum was declared present.
Meeting with the Board was:
Vicki Scott, Recording Secretary
News reporter, Mr. John Dykstra, was present from The Daily Journal.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Karen Johnston, Board President.

Action Item:
1. Resolution Authorizing Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract Between the Board of Education and Dr. Genevra A. Walters
Secretary, Barbara Wells, read the following Resolution:
Be it Resolved, by the Board of Education of Kankakee School District No. 111, Kankakee County, Illinois, as follows:
1. . The Board hereby finds that the Superintendent, Dr. Genevra Walters, has met the goals of the current July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2021 Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract (the “Current Contract”) between Dr. Walters and the Board and that the Board is, therefore, authorized by law to enter into a new multiyear Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract with Dr. Walters.
2. The Board hereby approves, and authorizes the President and Secretary to sign, an agreement with Dr. Walters terminating the Current Contract, substantially in the form of the attached Exhibit 1, and establishing a new multi-year Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract with Dr. Walters, substantially in the form of the attached Exhibit 2, for the period July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2022.
President Johnston asked if there was any discussion. Mr. Lightfoot asked what the contract entails. President Johnston said that it is extending the Superintendent’s contract for one year, until June 30, 2022 and giving Dr. Walters a 2.5% raise which is the same that the teachers will receive next school year. Hearing no other questions, President Johnston asked for a motion to approve the Resolution Authorizing Performance Based Superintendent’s Contract Between the Board of Education and Dr. Genevra Walters.
Motion was made by Coghlan, seconded by Wells, to approve the Resolution as presented. Roll Call Vote--Ayes: Coghlan, Gathing, Lightfoot, Shea, Wells, and Johnston. Nays: none. Motion carried.
Adjourn: At 6:06 p.m. motion was made by Gathing, seconded by Lightfoot, to adjourn the meeting. All ayes; motion carried.
