Two Kankakee Community College (KCC) students who recently earned associate degrees in medical laboratory technology have also been honored by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Abdelkrim Boukhari of Manteno and Karen Snider of Kankakee won National Student Honor awards thanks to their academic achievements, focus on community service and leadership. The award is a recognition of excellent students pursuing laboratory careers, the school said in the release.
Boukhari and Snider had to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a scale of 4.0 and demonstrate their commitment to community service and leadership activities. Medical lab tech students also must be active members in the American Society for Clinical Pathology and have senior standing to be eligible.

Boukhari and Snider graduated from KCC in May, earning their degrees in the program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
