Kankakee County first responders to benefit from memorial brick program

Fire 11

Kankakee area residents have an opportunity to commemorate a cause, a person or an organization of their choice in exchange for a donation to benefit local first responders through a memorial brick program launched recently by the Kankakee County Police and Fire Memorial Committee.

The committee said in a website posting that for a minimum contribution of $75, anyone can dedicate a brick to an individual or group. The bricks will be displayed at the memorial site on the courthouse lawn.

To participate, interested individuals can fill out the Police and Fire Memorial Brick Form found at http://kankakeecountysheriff.com/info/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Police-and-Fire-Memorial-Brick-Form.pdf and email it to Lt. Chad Gessner (cgessner@k3county.net); or alternatively print out a hard copy, fill it out and send through the U.S. mail to Lt. Chad Gessner, Kankakee County Police/Fire Memorial, 3000 S. Justice Way, Kankakee IL 60901.

The program, announced through the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office, allows each participant to list up to three lines of text, with a maximum of 13 characters (letters and spaces both included) on each line. Individuals may purchase more than one brick; however, each brick requires its own form and separate payment amount.

The donation is tax deductible and the form will serve as a receipt; checks should be made payable to “Kankakee County Police/Fire Memorial.”
