Kankakee’s Riverside Medical Center lives life on the wire. But that’s a good thing.
The center recently earned a spot on the “Most Wired Hospitals” list determined by the American Hospital Association (AHA) Health Forum, according to a press release.
“The Most Wired distinction is an accomplishment we can certainly be proud of at Riverside,” Phil Kambic, president and CEO of Riverside, said in a statement. “From our recent implementation of a fully-integrated electronic medical records system to our advanced information technology monitoring systems for patient safety and security, we embrace technology as a tool to deliver the very best care for better experiences and outcomes."
The “Most Wired Hospitals” list recognizes centers that use technology to make it easier for patients to access care and health care providers to garner information about their patients. Riverside uses innovative technologies, like a secure online portal called Riverside MyChart, to simplify their patients’ care. Through MyChart, patients can access health records, get test results, order prescription refills, pay bills and schedule appointments.
“Technologies such as Riverside's MyChart allow us to interact with patients anywhere, anytime,” Keith Moss, Riverside’s chief medical officer and chief medical information officer, said. “It provides them with unprecedented access to their own medical information and allows for a much more collaborative relationship between patient and provider.”
