Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

Present: Bayer, Grace, Rodgers, Benoit, Hendrickson and Richardson

Absent: none

Also present: J. DePatis, Director, J. Ponton, Recording Secretary and Andrew Fisher

Trustee Benoit swore in new trustee, Andrew Fisher.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Rodgers, that

MINUTES OF THE JUNE 21, 2017 MEETING SESSION BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED

Motion carried by unanimous vote

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

TREASURER’S REPORT

Moved by Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Grace, that

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JUNE BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED

VENDOR PAYMENTS

Moved by Trustee Richardson, seconded by Trustee Grace, that:

BILLS TOTALLING $17,880.74 BE ALLOWED AND PAID FOR MAY

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Bayer, that:

BILLS TOTALLING $16,017.24 BE ALLOWED AND PAID FOR JUNE

DIRECTOR’S REPORT - [copy attached hereto]

61 new readers were registered and 9,036 items were issued in June.

Receipts: $518.17 fines on overdue books - $385.00 – fax - $646.75 – copies –

$47.00 – lost/damage – $43.75 – other.

Expenses: $229.74

THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR’S REPORT LIBRARY FOR JUNE ACCEPTED

Director DePatis stated the following:

Maintenance:

A sprinkler pipe in the large print area spring a leak during the night on July 1st. The water was turned off with minimal damage to books or furnishings and the library remained closed on July 1st so staff could clean up the water and inspect materials for damage. F,E, Moran Fire Protection had the issue fixed by July 6th.

Director DePatis and Betty Chapman attended the American Library Association Annual Conference on June 23-26. Four staff members and 2 trustees also went to the exhibits.

Director DePatis and Olivia Koerner are taking an online class on WordPress throught the University of Wisconsin.

The Northern Illinois Food Bank received a grant to provide refrigerators to food program partners and the Bradley Public Library was one of the sites to receive a new commercial refrigerator.

The Emblem Club of Kankakee gave a $250 donation to the Bradley Public Library to continue the work we have been doing in the community.

Notice of Ordinance 17-02: Building and Maintenance Levy FY2018-19 has been published in the Daily Journal and petitions are available at the Library.

COMMITTEE REPORTS The Friends of the Library had a quick meeting so that members could work the Food Pantry. The Friends are considering a possible one day children’s book sale.

Personal Committee met and have set a budget for the fiscal year of 2017 – 2018 for salaries at $307,000.

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to accept the working budget for the Bradley Public Library District for the fiscal year 2017-2018

Motion carried by roll call vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays and 0 absent

The tentative budget for fiscal year 2018-2019 was distributed to trustees for review,

Proposed levy for fiscal year 2018-2019 was also distributed to trustees for review. Levy will be approved at a future meeting.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bradley National Night Out will be held on August 1, 2017 from 4 to 9 at Perry Farm. Director DePatis will send trustees an email with further details concerning the event.

Director DePatis reminded trustees that the Village of Bradley’s 125th celebration will be held on August 19th. She stated she would send an email with further details about the event.

Director DePatis has decided to try Word Press for the library website update. Olivia Koerner and Director DePatis are taking classes to learn the new program.

NEW BUSINESS: Trustee Rodgers and Trustee Grace will audit the fiscal year 2016-2017 secretary’s minutes.

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Grace to accept the updated FOIA policy for fiscal year 2017-2018

Motion carried; all in favor

A public hearing date for the Ordinance to Levy and Access a Tax for the Bradley Public Library for the fiscal year 2018-2019 has been set for August 23rd at 6:00PM.
