Kankakee has many budding scientists; at least that’s what a recent contest uncovered.
Students from the fifth- and sixth-grade class taught by Tracy Selock at Kennedy Middle Grade School recently participated in the Marie Curie contest sponsored by the Math, Science and Engineering Division of Kankakee Community College, a release said.
Sixteen students submitted perfect entries in the contest named after Marie Curie, a famous researcher who snagged not one but two Nobel prizes for her work in physics and chemistry, the release said.
Selock said the students were so excited to participate and thanked Dr. Francesca Catalano, associate dean for the KCC Division of Math, Science and Engineering, the release said.
