City of Gilman Police Committee met Feb. 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee members present: Randy Eimen, Mike McGehee, and Fred Voigt

Others present:Mayor Rick Theesfeld and Police Chief Jason Anderson

Purpose of meeting:Squad Car Purchase, Police Dept. Staffing, and Wages of Police Officers

The committee members discussed the purchase of a new squad car due to age and mileage of the city’s 2012 Chevrolet.

Following a presentation by Chief Anderson, Alderman Voigt moved to purchase a Ford Interceptor from Watseka Ford for $28,400.00, which motion was seconded by Alderman McGehee. All present committee members voted aye.

Chief Anderson stated that he has received an application for a part-time police officer from Lacy Greene of Rossville, Illinois. Ms. Greene is a certified police officer in Illinois and is currently employed in that status elsewhere. Chief Anderson was instructed to make the final decision and advise the council.

Chief Anderson then left the meeting. Following a discussion, the pay rate of Chief Anderson was set at $22.50 per hour, which is an increase of $1.00 per hour. Patrolman Brian Norton’s pay rate was set at $19.00 per hour, which is an increase of $.50 per hour. The wages of any part-time officers will remain at $15.00 per hour. The increases in said wages shall be effective for the two-week pay period ending March 15, 2018, which is paid on March 21, 2018.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m. All aye.
