City of Gilman Water and Sewer Committee met March 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee members present: Rick Theesfeld and Mike McGehee (Fred Voigt was absent.)

Others present:Bill Kraft, Steve Fancher, Randy Eimen

Purpose of meeting:Water and sewer rates

The committee members discussed the City’s water and sewer rates. The last increase was in 2013 for sewer and in 2014 for water. Several projects need to be completed, including three new screw pumps at the sewer plant, sewer main replacement, and water main looping.

The committee recommends raising water rates from $3.50 to $4.00 per one thousand gallons, and a minimum charge of $12.00 for the first three thousand gallons. One year later, the water rate will increase to $4.50 per thousand gallons, and a minimum of $13.50 for the first three thousand gallons.

The committee also recommends raising sewer rates from $4.50 to $5.00 per thousand gallons. One year later, the sewer rate will increase to $5.50 per thousand gallons.
