Village of Grant Park Board met March 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

6:00PM Meeting called to order/Pledge

Roll call was taken, all members present

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 3/05/18 meeting

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Dickson Motion Carried 6-0

Public Comments: Deb Morgan asked to speak concerning 3 topics.

She has relinquished heading up the Farmers Market to Jessica Macias, and Lori Reichers, who she hopes brings new ideas to help it grow in Grant Park

She read a statement regarding the Grant Park Foundation, its purpose in assisting activities in the Village, its 501c3 status, and that it is a public organization, not affiliated with the Village. Mentioned were requests being solicited, as well as grants applied for to assist in Heldt Park, and possible other projects in the future.

She voiced her opinion to not sell the Sewer system to Aqua, and spoke of her reasoning, but stated that should we sell the plant, to keep the proceeds for the storm sewer.

*Motion to approve bills for payment: Payroll <3/10/18 $14,515.20, Stipend <3/12/18, General Fund <3/19/18 $13,578.46, Sewer Fund $941.96, Festival Fund $86.83, T.I.F $5,350.00 (house demolition)

Motion: Dickson 2nd: Veldhuizen Motion Carried 5-0-1 Morse abstaining

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Streets & Alleys, Veldhuizen: no report

Finance, Dickson: no report

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan: no report other than sewer plant is running fine

Building & Grounds, Morse: Easter egg Hunt at the Community Center 3/31/18 @1PM

Ordinance & Insurance, Weidl: no report

Law Enforcement, Coats: no report

Pres. Roth: Dixie Days will be 6/16/18 going to Heldt Park, and other places. More info forthcoming.

The house has been demolished at 111 N. Maple. More ground work to be done soon.

Pres. Roth read a letter from Grant Park Schools pertaining to the Grant Park Police presence, where they thanked them for being involved with our schools.

KTJ (Klein, Thorp & Jenking) will be the lawyers for the proposed Aqua sewer purchase

Voice vote approved 6-0 by the Board

Effective 3/16/18 Aqua announced a rate increase approved by the Commerce Commission
