City of Momence City Council met April 16. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the council:

          The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 N. Dixie Highway, Momence. Mayor Chuck Steele called the meeting to order.


Roll Call

          Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope present.

Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

          Alderman Rehmer made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 2, 2018 council meeting. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Approval of the Bills

          The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting. Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment, with the following additions: Kim Donald $600.00, ComEd $33.49, ComEd $28.19, Nicor $293.50, Nicor $27.44, Nicor $30.03, Tyson Eng $1155.00, reducing the IT payment to $100.00. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Citizen Forum

                  1. Melissa Snipes – requesting residential parking sign @ 121 E 2nd St. requesting signs for

                       in front of her house. There are many cars that park in front of her house due to AA,

                       which take up her parking. We will need to amend the ordinance and add a small part.

                       Vote next meeting.

Aldermanic Reports

                1.      Jake Salomone - Discuss & vote for Mainstreet Momence fee to Illinois Main Street.

                     Mainstreet looking for help to remain in the register listing, $1000.00 which is the dues. For

                     the last 3 years there has not been an Illinois Mainstreet Program. Money would be taken out

                     of the downtown area fund, which has funds are available. Alderman Salomone made motion

                      to approve giving Mainstreet $1000.00 for dues, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion

                      with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

                      Alderman Metz voted no. Budget and Finance Committee meeting May 7, 7:15 pm

                 2. John Rehmer - Police committee meeting May 7, 7:00pm

Department Heads

Treasurer Report MFT audit was completed without any issues/concerns

Mayoral Report

                      1. Approval of 2018-2019 Liquor License

                           Riches class A, B

                           Berkots class A, B and C

                            Bordertown class A, B and E

                            Casey’s class B and C

                            Circle K class B and C

                            Circle K class B and C

                            Thirsty Aces class A and B

                            Off the Vine class A and B with sidewalk

                             Sammy’s Pizza class A and B with sidewalk

                             Sluggers class A and B

                             Wash n Winnies class F

                             Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve the above licenses, Alderman Cook

                             seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer,

                             Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Mayor requested an executive session for litigation and personal issues. Alderman Cook made motion to go into executive session, Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Moved into executive session at 7:50 pm

Returned to open meeting at 8:53 PM, Alderman Rehmer made motion to adjourn, Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 8:53 p.m.
