Report: St. George spent $7,639 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at St. George Community Consolidated School District 258 is down 3 percent from five years ago, according to a Kankakee Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Kankakee County school district spent $7,885 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $7,639 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 518 to 452.

St. George's spending in 2016-17 was 41 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
