Take a long lunch break on National Take Your Dog to Work Day and have lunch with your "best friend" at First American Bank in the Village of Bourbonnais. You can get your lunch from local food vendors and Fido can have lunch on us. Take a break from the grind and network with other dog lovers in #kankakeecounty. Bourbonnais, IL: The Young Professionals Network Committee of the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with First American Bank and Razzle Dazzle Doggie Boutique are celebrating National Take Your Dog to Work Day on Friday, June 22. Yappy Meal is an outdoor lunchtime event with food being served up by Jimmy Jo’s BBQ and Miabella’s wood fired pizza and catering from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at 288 N. Main St in Bourbonnais. Free treats and water will be available for those attending on four legs.
Attendees will be able to bring their dogs with them to First American Bank, have lunch, take advantage of the giveaways from Razzle Dazzle Doggie Boutique, and enjoy some time outdoors during their work day. National Take Your Dog to Work Day was started by Pet Sitters International “to celebrate the great companion’s dogs make and promote pet adoption”, as well as to “experience the joy of pets in the workplace.” 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of this national event. On their website, psychologists from the University of Southern California write that “Pets in the workplace improve office morale, encourage a healthy work/life balance, and deter absenteeism.”
“People are bringing their dogs to festivals, farmers’ markets, and outdoor dining areas here in Kankakee County already” states Brewer-Watson, President and CEO of the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce. “our young professionals love the idea of bringing their pets to work but it’s not always possible. So, we decided that lunch with your dog is more likely and that’s where Yappy Meal comes from.”
