City of Kankakee issued the following announcement on June 16.

Resale boutique C&L Fine Goods honored its one-year anniversary in business today and celebrated by holding an official ribbon cutting in front of their downtown store.

The boutique, owned by Kankakee couple Courtney and Leondra Williams, opened last June and is located at 155 S. Schuyler. C&L sells new and gently used clothing and footwear for women, men and children.

“Courtney and Leondra represent the kind of entrepreneurial spirit that is helping to remake neighborhoods small and large across our city and the State of Illinois,” Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong said. “Small businesses make our communities stronger, and we are excited to formally welcome this already successful business to the City of Kankakee.”

Small businesses in Illinois employ nearly 50 percent of the state’s workforce and account for 98 percent of all Illinois businesses.
