City of Gilman City Council met April 23.
Here is the minutes provided by the Council:
The special meeting of the city council was called to order by Mayor Theesfeld. Council responding to roll call were: Eimen aye, Kraft aye, Voigt aye, Elliott aye, and Fancher aye.
Alderman McGehee was absent, as was City Clerk Morris. Treasurer Johnson was also present.
The council discussed the bid for a second sanitary screw pump from Kankakee Valley Construction Co. Inc.
Moved by Eimen, Seconded by Kraft
to accept the bid of Kankakee Valley Construction Co. Inc. for $276,650.00 for a second sanitary screw pump including removal of the existing pump. All aye.
Moved by Elliott, Seconded by Voigt
to approve payment to Iroquois Paving Corporation for $41,214.04 for emergency sewer repairs due to collapse of manhole near Amtrak station, to be paid from TIF 1 account. All aye.
Motion by Kraft, Seconded by Eimen
to approve purchase of light bar and other required accessories/equipment, including some removal and installation, for new police interceptor from Illinois Fire and/or Ray O’Herron for a reasonable price to be determined by Chief Anderson. All aye.
Mayor Theesfeld discussed gasoline tax to possibly be imposed by City. That issue will be further discussed at the next regular city council meeting. A suggested tax of $.02/gallon on diesel was made.
Alderman Kraft brought up the issue of donations by the City. He has checked with Gibson City and Watseka, and they both only make one donation a year. That issue will be discussed further at the next regular city council meeting.
