Momence City Council met July 2.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

Roll Call

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer,

Cook, and Temple. Alderman Cope was absent.

Approval Of Previous Meeting Minutes

Alderman Cook made a motion to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2018 council meeting.

Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer,

Cook, and Temple voting yes.

Approval Of The Bills

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting. Alderman

Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment with the correction of Alderman Temple’s payroll for June to $100.00 due to absence. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, and Temple voting yes.

Citzen Forum

Jay Kerouac – solar farm/planters – both letters received from Momence were read at the county meeting. The solar farm is moving forward. There are 2 more board that have to review. Jay feels that this will be passed by both boards. There is a planter by the door this evening. Jay would like to see additional planters, maybe starting around Berkots and coming towards town. These planters are smaller, total planter with flowers would be $30.00. Planning on 12 to start with, will be coming up with the money to plant these.

Old Business - Alderman Metz – February brought up about 7th Street, inquiring if the city has come up with any MFT to possibly black top. Scott is indicating that the road is not wide enough to use MFT. Mayor is indicating that they are looking into tar/chip the road. Scott is stating that the contractor would be coming back after festival.

Aldermanic Reports

1. Jake Salomone – Discuss and vote on 2018-2019 Appropriation Ordinance, no modifications made. Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the Appropriation Ordinance 842 in the amount of 7,437,300.00. Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook and Temple voting yes. Alderman Salomone - Discuss and Vote on Grant Matching Commitment will be discussing during the next meeting.

2. Alderman Rehmer - Police committee meeting 7pm on July 16 relating to mutual aid issue

Department Heads

Tina – increase on garbage rates of.49 per the contract effective June 1, 2018, will see on this month’s bill

Scott – street sweeper is back. Having problems with the chipper

Treasurer report - absent

Mayoral Report

1. July 4th Celebration will be on July 4. There will be a band playing for a couple of hours prior to the fireworks starting at 7pm

2. Discuss and Vote on Historical House traveling display 8/1/18 – 1/1/19 spoke with Nancy, once people visit the historical house they won’t come back to see the same things over and over. Nancy is working on changing the scene, trying to get more foot traffic through the museum. Cost to the city would be around $300.00 for advertising. No vote is necessary

3. Big thank you to the police department for working so hard on the theft of the equipment from the street alley garage. Some of the equipment have been returned

Mayor requested executive session not to come out to do business in the matter of property sale price. Alderman Cook made motion to go into executive, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro,

Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook and Temple voting yes.

Returned from executive session at 8:04 p.m.

Alderman Metz made motion to adjourn, Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone,

Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook and Temple voting yes.
