City of Chillicothe Cemetery and Parks Committee met June 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Chairman Connor called the meeting to order at 5:15pm

Present: Chairman Connor

Alderman Gould

Also in attendance: Clerk Hurd Office Manager Passage

Superintendent of Public Works, Shawn Sutherland

City Engineer Ken Coulter

Absent: Alderman Jenkins

Chairman Connor asked to move agenda item Bike Path to the first item on the agenda. There were no objections.

Bike Path: Engineer Coulter explained that the city did not receive a grant for the bike paths. Discussion was held on the possibility of striping some of the bike lanes. Engineer Coulter informed the committee striping was not included in this year’s budget. It was the consensus of the committee to review the project closer to next year’s budgeting session.

Budget Review:

Office Manager Passage presented the May, 2018 budget numbers for review. A discussion ensued. All items were within guidelines.

Grasshopper Mower:

Superintendent Sutherland presented a proposal from Bill’s Small Engine in the amount of $9,042.85 for a 48” Grasshopper mower (Utility Tractor). It was the consensus of the committee to bring the utility tractor project forward for council approval.

Stage Concrete Work:

Superintendent Sutherland presented an estimate from Engbrecht Concrete in the amount of $6,500 for the repair of the City Park Stage. It was the consensus of the committee to seek council approval for the repairs using TIF funds.

Drinking Fountain:

Agenda item pulled.

Concrete Planters:

Superintendent Sutherland presented a proposal from Engbrecht Concrete in an amount not to exceed of $1750.00 for the concrete patch work under the concrete planters. Discussion ensued. Mayor White informed the committee that before any action is taken he would like to discuss the project with the downtown business committee. No Committee action will be taken at this time.

Welcome Signs:

Chairman Connor informed the committee that on October 7th the Chillicothe Christian Church and Northwood’s Church will be working on cleaning up the landscaping around the city welcome signs.

Dog Waste:

Discussion was held on the possibility of purchasing more dog waste stations. It was the

consensus of the committee that there was not a need for more stations at this time.

Park Signs:

Discussion was held on the remaining city parks that do not have new signs. It was the consensus of the committee to seek council approval in the amount not to exceed $2,000.00 for a new sign at City Park located at the corner of Chestnut St., Second St., and Cedar St.

Old Business:

Shademaker Update:

Chairman Connor informed the committee that Shademakers will be having a meeting next Tuesday.

Sycamore Trail Park:

No Report

Eagle Landing Update:

Chairman Connor reported that all the planting is completed.

Eagle Scout Project – Jack Braun:

Chairman Connor reported that Jack Braun is seeking a project idea for his Eagle Scout. She asked if anyone had suggestions to please let her know.

Cutright Security Cameras:

Alderman Connor reported there had been some vandalism in the restrooms at Cutright Park. Discussion was held in regards to purchasing security cameras. It was the consensus of the committee to display a security sign at the location.
