Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Present: Bayer, Richardson, Rodgers, and Hendrickson

Absent: Benoit, Fisher, Grace

Also present: J. DePatis, Director

Trustee Bayer appointed Trustee Rodgers acting secretary.

Director’s Report - [copy attached hereto]

46 new readers were registered and 9,119 items were issued in May.

Receipts: $ 431.92- fines on overdue books; $221- fax; $571.50- copies; $0-class fees;

$51.00- lost/damaged; $140- fee cards; $34.75- other. Expenses: $ 87.65

For May Be Accepted.

Director DePatis stated the following:

Personnel: Two pages hired: Ella Orvis and Tanya Morales;

Rai Dominguez promoted to Clerk and helps with food programs and children’s programming;

Hired Julie Quinn as a clerk to work nights and weekends.

Maintenance: Annual sprinkler system inspection completed by Matco, a new vendor for the Library.

Programs: Summer lunch has begun, averaging 30 served daily. Summer Reading Program has 297 children and 48 adults registered so far. Introduced a new online way to track reading charts called Read Squared with 214 signed up so far; this program will be used in other ways as well. Partnership with the Bradley Elementary School District in the Imagination Station program was formed, offering books delivered monthly to kids in Bradley ages 0-5.

Continuing Education: Betty Chapman and Olivia Koerner attended a notary workshop on 6/8/18 at Matteson Public Library; Betty has all her paperwork in to become a notary; Jodie DePatis attended a RAILS Workshop at Kankakee Public Library on Motivating Employees. 

Other: Implemented Square to make accepting in person credit card transactions quicker, easier, and more secure. All fingerprinting staff have completed the first round of additional online training. E-rate for 2018-2019 has been approved as requested: 80 percent discount on Internet services = $ 14.477.28.

Committee Reports: Did not meet in June, but are looking for volunteers to assist with the Food Pantry on June 27. Next meeting: Wednesday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Unfinished Buisiness:

The remainder of the Personnel Policy will be ready for the next board meeting. It will be distributed for perusal and the total policy will be voted on by the Board for approval at the August meeting, pending legal consultation.

New Business:

Moved by Trustee Rodgers and seconded by Trustee Bayer to approve Ordinance 18-03:

Building and Maintenance Levy Fy 2019-2020.

Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Moved by Trustee Rodgers and seconded by Trustee Hendrickson to approve the FOIA policy update for FY 2018-2019.

Motion carried by unanimous vote.

Trustee Rodgers, as acting secretary for the Bradley Public Library, has reviewed the closed meeting minutes and states that the minutes should remain closed.

Public Hearing date for Fy 2019-2020 Budget and Appropriations Ordinance is set for Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 6 p.m.

Bradley National Night Out is set for August 7. Details will follow.

Trustee Hendrickson moved for adjournment at 6:33 p.m.
