RIVERSIDE HEALTH CARE: Foundation Donors Exceed Giving Goal for Heart Patients

Fund

Riverside Health Care issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.

Donors of the Riverside Healthcare Foundation have met and exceeded the goal for the Lead with Your Heart capital campaign to benefit the Riverside Heart and Vascular Institute.

Launched in fall of 2016, the campaign sought to raise $2.5 million dollars with a commitment from Riverside to match funds raised dollar for dollar in capital outlay. The project will provide for four new state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs, bring new innovative procedures like Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) to our community, and support heart education. Construction begins spring of 2019.

On July 19th, Riverside hosted a finale celebration to thank top donors to the campaign. Together, donors gave $3.3 million dollars to date, surpassing the original goal. Lead gifts to the Lead with Your Heart campaign include an estate gift from Jean V. Thomas, a multi-year gift from the Charlton Family Charitable Foundation, and a lead corporate gift from Nucor Steel Kankakee.

The celebration event was hosted in the newly created Millirons Heart Garden on Riverside’s campus. The Garden was dedicated in honor of Dennis C. Millirons, Riverside’s second President and CEO who passed earlier this year. His 12-year tenure included launching the area’s first and only open-heart surgery program. Now, the Garden bearing his name also recognizes donors that generously supported the most recent heart campaign.

Riverside President and CEO Phil Kambic ended the night with a champagne toast to Riverside supporters, saying “Cheers to the heartfelt care of physicians and nurses, heart-warming generosity of donors, and hearts saved each day because we join together.”
