Presence St. Mary's Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
Presence St. Mary’s Hospital (PSMH) recently partnered with the Kankakee County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Zagster, a bike share company, to support “Bike 609,” a new bike share program across Kankakee County.
On Monday, July 2, 2018, PSMH staff, including Chris Shride, president, celebrated the launch of the program with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Manteno, Ill. The program features multiple bike stations around the community, including a PSMH-sponsored station on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University, located in the Reed Hall parking lot along Convent Street.
“If we are going to take strides in improving community health, it’s going to come from collaboration,” said Chris Shride at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. “This is one step, but, hopefully, this is a theme we can continue to build upon.”
Zagster’s award-winning bikes are known for their practical design, comfortable ride and easy handling. The bike includes a front basket perfect for carrying groceries, takeout food or personal belongings. With a nod toward safety, each bike includes automatic lights, a bell and reflectors.
The bike share program has three payment options:
Annual membership: $25
Annual student membership: $15
Pay-as-you-go membership: No initial cost, but $1 per 30-minute ride, up to $20 per ride.
