Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met Aug. 22.

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018.
Present: Bayer, Rodgers, Benoit, Grace, Fisher, Richardson(late)and Hendrickson
Absent: None
Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary
APPROVAL OF MINUTES

TREASURER’S REPORT
Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Hendrickson, that
TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JULY BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED

VENDOR PAYMENTS

42 new readers were registered and 6,914 items were issued in July.
Receipts: $398.94 fines on overdue books - $414.00 – fax - $699.50 – copies – $58.00 – lost/damaged - 31.50 - other.

THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR FOR JULY ACCEPTED
Director DePatis stated the following:
Continuing Education:
Director DePatis attended the PrairieCat Delegates Assembly on July 25th via web conference.
Director DePatis also attended a webinar by HR Source on workplace investigations.
A committee meeting on July 25th was attended by Director DePatis for the annual Bradley Lighted Christmas Parade. The theme of the parade will be Broadway Christmas.
Maintenance:
The brick work was completed by PSI in July.
The carpets in the Drassler Room were cleaned plus the 2 oval areas in the children’s area.
Art’s Landscaping will be cleaning up and adding rock to the 2 areas in front of the library and also replacing the dead bushes.
New bulletin boards and 2 display shelves were installed in the children’s area.
Programs:
Northern Illinois Food Bank mobile pantry was at the library on August 8th from 6 to 7PM. 155 families were served by the pantry.
Grants/Donations:
Donation from the Kankakee Emblem Club of $250.00 was received.
Project Next Generation grant in the amount of $27,000. from Il State Library – Teen Design Techs.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library met on August 1st at 6:30PM. Fall book sale will be Sept. 28th and 29th with preview night on Thursday, Sept. 27th. Fall craft show will take place on November 3rd from 9AM until 3PM. Director DePatis will get information on the possible purchase of a microphone for programs and other events. Next meeting will be held on Sept. 5th at 6:30PM.

Director DePatis will distribute copies of the bylaws revisions at the September meeting
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
The public hearing for the Budget and Appropriations for fiscal year 2019 – 2020 was rescheduled for September 19, 2018.
Bradley Night Out on August 7, 2018 was well attended. The Bradley Public Library distributed 400 balloons in less than 2 hours.
The alley sidewalk project has been completed plus the replacement of the front sidewalk.
Warburton Construction will be sealing and filling in the cracks in the parking lot.

NEW BUSINESS:
Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Fisher to renew the Treasurer’s Bond with an increase in coverage to $425,000.00.

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to renew the Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance policy
Motion carried by unanimous vote
Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Grace to increase the employee deduction for health insurance coverage to $12.50 per week starting in November of 2018.

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Benoit to close the Bradley Public Library on December 23, 2018
Motion carried by unanimous vote
The annual staff/trustee holiday gathering will be held on December 2nd with December 9th as a backup date. Trustee Benoit will check on availability and prices for the proposed menu for the gathering.
Director DePatis informed Trustees Richardson, Rodgers and Fisher that they are up for reelection in 2019,
Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Richardson to adopt Resolution 18-01 in regards to the Frances R Wertz Trust.

Director’s evaluation was distributed to all trustees. The completed forms are to be returned by September 5, 2018.
COMMUNICATIONS:
A thank you note was received from the Bradley Public Library thanking the trustees for their participation in the Summer Market Food Pantry.
