Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met July 18.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

Present: Bayer, Rodgers, Benoit, and Hendrickson

Absent: Grace, Fisher and Richardson

Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Hendrickson, that

MINUTES OF THE JUNE 20, 2018 MEETING SESSION BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED

Motion carried by unanimous vote

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

TREASURER’S REPORT

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers, that

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR JUNE BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED

Motion carried by roll call vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays and 3 absent

VENDOR PAYMENTS

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Benoit, that:

BILLS TOTALLING $34,951.39 ALLOWED AND PAID FOR JUNE

Motion carried by roll call vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays and 3 absent

DIRECTOR’S REPORT - [copy attached hereto] 56 new readers were registered and 7,466 items were issued in June.

Receipts: $571.67 fines on overdue books - $378.00 – fax - $590.70 – copies – $161.95 – lost/damaged - $250.00 – donation –13.00 - other.

Expenses: $120.89

Director DePatis stated the following:

Personnel:

Part time employee, Kole El-Talabami was hired to take over some of the programs Chris Temple was doing such as Dudes & Donuts.

Staff internet has been moved to ComCast from ICN/AT&T after ComCast won the erate bid process. Cost will be similar but speed will increase.

Summer Food Program:

At the June 27th, 104 families receive food pantry items. On July 18th, 113 families were served by the Northern Illinois Food Pantry. Next date for the food pantry is August 8th from 5 to 7 PM.

Miscellaneous:

Director DePatis listened to My Media Mall annual meeting via teleconference on June 22nd. No increase in fees this year for individual libraries. May have option to give copies they have purchased separately (called Advantage)to the consortium for everyone’s use.

Building and Maintenance Levy notice was published in the Daily Journal. Deadline for petitions is July 27, 2018.

Director DePatis is talking with Art’s Landscaping about exterior landscape ideas.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library did not have a meeting.

Legal:

A copy of the new Notary Service policy was distributed to each trustee.

Director DePatis distributed a copy of the new personnel policy handbook for each trustee to review. Any questions or concerns are to be sent to Director DePatis.

Upon the recommendation of the Finance Committee

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Benoit to adopt the Working Budget for the fiscal year 2018 - 2019

Motion carried by roll call vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays and 3 absent

The working budget for the fiscal year 2019 – 2020 was distributed to each trustee.

The levy at 6.5% for fiscal year 2019 – 2020 was given to each trustee for review.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Bradley Night Out will be held on August 7th. Trustees are to let Director DePatis if they will attend the event. Any further details, Director DePatis will forward to the trustees.

NEW BUSINESS:

Trustees Rodgers and Hendrickson will audit the secretary’s minutes for the fiscal year 2017 – 2018.

Director DePatis is getting quotes for the sealing of the parking lot. The library will need to be closed when this maintenance is done.

Moved by Trustee Hendrickson, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to have a sidewalk installed on the alley side of the library at a cost not to exceed $5,000.00
