CITY OF KANKAKEE: Residential Recycling Audit Notification

Announcement

City of Kankakee issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.

To the Residents of the City of Kankakee:

This notification is to inform you that the City of Kankakee and Republic Services will be conducting a residential recycling audit in the alley ways and terraces within the Kankakee city limits. The recycle audit will begin on Monday, November 26th with a completion date of Friday, December 7th, 2018.

The audit will include the inspection of the materials in each recycle cart for both quality and contamination materials. If your recycle cart is deemed to be contaminated, the auditors will place a notification sticker on top of those that are selected. Going forward, the selected carts with the notification sticker will be serviced as trash.

As a reminder, in order to reduce contamination in the recycling process, all recyclables are to be empty, clean and dry before placing items in the recycle carts. The right materials to recycle include: Plastics, Metal Cans, Aluminum Foil, Cardboard, Newspaper, Paper Containers, Cartons, Paper and Glass.

Please refer to the City of Kankakee official website at www.citykankakee-il.gov or refer to Republic Waste Disposal at www.republicservices.com for more information on recycling. If further assistance is needed, you may contact the City of Kankakee Recycling hotline at 815.936.3615 or RecycleHotline@citykankakee-il.gov with any questions or concerns you may have.

As we move Kankakee Forward, we must “Recycle today for a better tomorrow”.

Sincerely,

City of Kankakee Recycling Team
