Bradley Public Library District Board of Trustees met Sept. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

President Bayer called the regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Bradley Public Library District to order at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

Present: Bayer, Rodgers, Benoit, Grace, and Hendrickson

Absent: Richardson and Fisher

Also present: J. DePatis, Director and J. Ponton, Recording Secretary

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Hendrickson, that

MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 22, 2018 MEETING SESSION BE APPROVED AS SUBMITTED

Motion carried by unanimous vote

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

TREASURER’S REPORT

Moved by Trustee Grace, seconded by Trustee Rodgers, that

TREASURER’S REPORT FOR AUGUST BE ACCEPTED AS SUBMITTED

Motion carried by roll call vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent

VENDOR PAYMENTS

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers, that:

BILLS TOTALLING $62,566.10 ALLOWED AND PAID FOR AUGUST

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

77 new readers were registered and 7,370 items were issued in August.

Receipts: $524.24 fines on overdue books - $375.00 – fax - $542.15 – copies – $150.00 – fee cards - $144.10 – lost/damaged - 28.75 – other – Idemia - $51.00. Expenses: $86.43

Director DePatis stated the following:

Continuing Education:

Director DePatis attended Upcoming Graphic Novels webinar and Planning Optimal Library Spaces webinar.

Olivia Koerner and Renea Bruce attended to a workshop on graphic novels and comics.

Maintenance:

Moved teen and adult fiction sections.

Moved and rearranged outside pump room and Drassler storage area. The annual inspection of the alarm system was performed.

Programs:

Dolly Parton Imagination library program was held on August 29th. Program was a huge success and library will definitely have the program again next year.

Personnel:

A part time clerk position has been posted.

Misc.

Director DePatis is working with Bill Uelman, IT technician, to purchase computers and assorted accessories for PNG Grant.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library met on September 5th at 6:30PM. Fall book sale will be Sept. 28th

and 29th with preview night on Thursday, Sept. 27th. Fall craft show will take place on November 3rd from 9AM until 3PM. A wreath raffle will take place from Oct. 15th to Nov. 3rd. Silent Auction will take place from Nov 19th thru Dec 15th. The Healthy Living series plans to resume in January. Next meeting will be held on Sept. 3rd at 6:30PM.

Legal:

Copies of the revised Bylaws of the Bradley Public Library were distributed to each trustee. Approval of the revised bylaws will be approved at the next meeting. Review of the public use of the library policies has begun.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

The updated personnel policy handbook has been sent to the lawyer for review. The projected cost of this review is $2,950.00 and usually takes 6 to 8 weeks.

The 2018 staff/trustee holiday party will be held on December 2nd at the Quality Inn at a cost of $21.45 per person with the same menu as last year. Employees meal will be covered by the Bradley Public Library but their guests will be asked to pay $25.00. Final attendee numbers must be in by November 19th.

Director DePatis informed Trustees Richardson, Rodgers and Fisher that they are up for reelection in 2019. Each trustee up for reelection will need to obtain 37 signatures on their petitions.

NEW BUSINESS:

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Benoit to

approve Ordinance 18-04, Budget and Appropriation Ordinance of the Bradley Public Library District for the fiscal year 2019-2020

Motion carried by roll call vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent

Director DePatis distributed a copy of the fiscal year 2017-2018 annual report to each trustee to review.

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Rodgers to set a Truth in Taxation Hearing for October 17, 2018 at 6:00PM

Motion carried by unanimous vote

Moved by Trustee Bayer, seconded by Trustee Benoit to go into Executive Session at 6:38PM for the purpose of reviewing director evaluation.

Motion carried by roll call vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent

President Bayer declared the Executive session to be concluded at 6:55PM

Moved by Trustee Rodgers, seconded by Trustee Benoit, to

award Director DePatis a 2.0% salary increase as discussed in the Executive session.

Motion carried by roll call vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and 2 absent

Trustee Grace moved for adjournment at 6:58PM
