City of Kankakee issued the following announcement on Dec. 8.
The City of Kankakee celebrated the start of the Holiday Season with the 12th Annual Lion Wreathing at the Kankakee Public Library. Mayor Wells-Armstrong chose two children through a drawing in the KPL, then headed out to wreath Readmore and Seemore the lions. The Kankakee High School Drumline escorted the crowd to the Kankakee Depot for the official Tree Lighting. The evening was a great way to usher in the season and also included a visit from Santa Claus, carols sung by the Kankakee High School choir, and cookies and hot chocolate in the Depot!
