CITY OF KANKAKEE: January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month

Announcement

City of Kankakee issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.

January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain labor or commercial sex. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked in countries around the world. This serious crime is not just a problem in other countries – it is also happening in the United States. The Blue Campaign is the unified voice for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) efforts to combat human trafficking. The City of Kankakee will be participating in raising awareness and promoting education throughout the month of January. We encourage our residents to engage in our efforts!
