Report: Herscher spent $11,186 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Herscher Community Unit School District 2 is up 11.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Kankakee Times analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Kankakee County school district spent $10,019 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $11,186 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 1869 to 1718.

Herscher's spending in 2017-18 was 16.1 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
