City of Kankakee issued the following announcement on April 20.
In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Mayor Wells-Armstrong visited the KanComm staff to deliver lunch and thank them for all that they do. KanComm is the Kankakee County Communications Center responsible for handling 911 and non emergency Police, Fire and EMS calls. Often "forgotten" by the public, these first respnders are vital for the safety of our community. There is a minimum of 4 telecommunicatiors working at a time, 365 days a year. KanComm cover calls for service for 11 police agencies, 16 fire departments and 1 private ambulance in Kankakee County, including the City of Kankakee. Be sure to thank you KanComm staff for all they do for your community!
