The charges on this case are the result of ongoing investigations related to gun violence in the Kankakee and Hopkins Park area by the Kankakee ATF Task Force. The task force includes the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and investigators with the Kankakee City Police Department working in cooperation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Central District of Illinois and The Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office. Assisting in the investigation was the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and the Kankakee Gang Enforcement Unit. The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan Freres and Elly Pierson.

“The relationships that we have forged with federal agencies have undoubtedly been beneficial to the Kankakee County communities,” said Sheriff Mike Downey. “Being able to remove these guns from our streets and out of the hands of these dangerous individuals will most certainly have an impact and will help us keep our streets safe.”
