City of Momence City Council met Aug. 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Metz made a motion to approve the minutes of the August 5, 2019 council meeting.

Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Metz, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes. Aldermen Carbonaro and Clark passed.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed at tonight's Budget and Finance Committee Meeting.

Alderman Salomone made a motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cope seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

CITZEN FORUM – Ann Cobb – signage for the park. The sign has been ordered, not received.

3x2 ft sign for the footbridge. Sign would be placed on posts. Ann will be coming back to council with different sizes of signs for the road, Conrad Park.

Dawn Sharkey – requesting closure of back alley, behind church, for safety on September 7, 2 –5PM for an event. Alderman Rehmer made motion to approve closure, Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Jane Johnson – changing on executive director. Membership for Mainstreet for the State is $2000.00, requesting help from the City for assistance on the membership cost, vote will be later in the meeting.

OLD BUSINESS – Jake Salomone – met with Larrry Crouch over the census, getting the process started.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS

1. David Cook – Discuss and Vote on Main Street Momence Annual Fees - Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Alderman Salomone, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes. Aldermen Carbonaro and Metz voting no.

2. Rebekah Cope – Discuss and Vote on Ordinance to update fines and fees Ordinance 848.

Alderman Cope made motion to approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes. Also wanted to make mention of traffic issues, drivers not paying attention to pedestrian walk signs.

3. Jake Salomone – Budget and Finance Tuesday, September 3, 7:15 PM

Treasurer report – MFT audit tomorrow

Department Heads – Tina Demack – X-mas Inc. Mic Porter still looking for donations

MAYORAL REPORT

1. Discuss and Vote on MFT Bids contingent on protest

Bids for patch work = Gallagher - $41,462.50, Kankakee - $41,850.00. Robinson recommends Gallagher. Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Bids for Indiana Street – Gallagher - $44,245.00, Kankakee - $44,565.00. Robinson recommends Gallagher. Alderman Cope made a motion approve, Alderman Rehmer seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Mayor requested executive session, not to come out to do business. Alderman Cook made motion to approve, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Cook, Temple and Cope voting yes.

Adjourned to exective session – 8:06PM
