Village of Chebanse Village Board met July 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Mathy called the regular Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm and announced that the Village would be taping and Kathy Washington from the Advocate would be taking notes.

The following Trustees were present: Trustee Beherns, Trustee Kohler, Trustee Odle, Trustee Perzee, Trustee Randles and Trustee Snyder. Also present were Mayor Mathy, Clerk Pasel, Attorney Hiatt and James Smith from Maintenance.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Mathy

APPROVAL OF REGULAR MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Perzee to approve the June 17, 2019 Village Board meeting minutes. Vote:

TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve the June 30, 2019 Treasurer’s Report. Vote:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

SWIMMING POOL/FENCING: TABLED

FENCING: Mayor Mathy stated that he spoke to the property owner informing him that the Board is working on clarifying the fencing guidelines. The property owner has applied for a building permit. He will be installing a fence following the Village guidelines.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: NONE

REPORTS OF VILLAGE OFFICERS: James informed the Board of what the summer help has helped him accomplish this summer. A lot of projects have been completed. Mayor Mathy thanked James and the summer help for all their hard work. James stated that as an appreciation, they will be having a cookout at the pit.

NEW BUSINESS:

PLAYGROUND MULCH: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Randles to purchase a truckload of mulch for the playground at a cost of $1500.00. Vote:

ORDINANCE NO. 19-06 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 2006 INTERNATIONAL

BUILDING CODE: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Beherns to adopt Ordinance No. 19-06 – An Ordinance Adopting the 2006 International Building Code. Vote:

HOMECOMING: April asked the Board for their opinion on Fireworks. After a short discussion, it was decided to pass on the fireworks for this year. James reported that the Legion will be having a fish fry on Friday night with the proceeds going to the Homecoming after expenses.

COMMUNICATIONS: Mayor Mathy reminded the Board of the bid opening for the pickup truck on July 22, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Mr. Gigl stated that he received a letter concerning an ordinance violation. The vehicle does not belong to him. Mayor Mathy apologized for the error.
