Village of Grant Park Village Board met Sept. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Roll Call was taken, all members present except Ms. Dickson

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 9/03/19 meeting

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Morse Motion Carried 5-0-0

Dr. Palan, and Mr. Dickson from the Grant Park School District gave a presentation with an early draft of a Community video, in cooperation with the Village, and Chamber of Commerce. The final draft should be ready in 2-3 weeks. This is intended to be used with inquiring new residents to the Village and School, seeking information to possible move to the area.

Public Comments: Steve Bahnsen spoke to if the Village would like Village population signs, free of charge through IDOT. Information was given to Mr. Henson.

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <9/13/19 General Fund $21,730.27, Sewer Fund $99.59, Festival Fund $6,935.00, T.I.F $8,571.42, <9/07/19 Payroll $17,149.05 <9/09/19 Stipend $1,326.30

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Streets & Alleys, Veldhuizen: no report

Finance, Dickson: absent, no report

Treasurer Graves: Annual audit is in process

Sewer & Garbage, Morgan: no report

Building & Grounds, Morse: reported a good attendance for Oktoberfest, 37 children participated in the kiddy tractor pull, wanted to thank all volunteers, and those attending.

*Motion to grant permission for the Youth Commission to use the PA system for the Bingo fundraiser 11/09/19 Motion: Morse 2nd: Wiedl Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to approve a cash draw of $350 for the Bingo fund raiser on 11/09/19 for food, bar, raffle, and door drawers. Motion: Morse 2nd: Wiedl Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to approve Youth Commission to host a “Make and Take Event” at the Community Center on Sunday 11/24/19 from 1-3PM Motion: Morse 2nd: Wiedl Motion Carried 5-0-0

*Motion to approve the Youth Commission to serve as volunteers at the Bewitching Hextravaganza hosted by the Grant Park Foundation Saturday 10/26/19

Motion: Morse 2nd: Wiedl Motion Carried 5-0-0

Ordinance & Insurance, Wiedl: no report. Ms. Wiedl asked if the Village was going to do a Tree lighting ceremony in conjunction with the Grant Park Chambers “Christmas in the Village” to be held 12/14/19.

The tree will be in the Village Community Park

*Law Enforcement, Coats: no report

Chief Frey: Would like to incorporate a 4 hour course on vaping in conjunction with Adjudication Court.

Also working with the School Art Class on painting some murals at locations in town.

Pres. Roth: no report
