ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 79: Rep. Parkhurst Responds to Governor’s Budget Address

79

Illinois State House District 79 issued the following announcement on Feb. 19

In response to Governor Pritzkers’s budget address earlier today, State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) has issued the following statement:

“I am disheartened by the Governor’s budget proposal, which failed to mention anything about growing our state’s economy, increasing job opportunities, and reversing our exodus from Illinois. Instead, the proposal called for more spending with money we do not have, promises we cannot keep, and holding our social services and healthcare hostage for his graduated tax increase. We need to face reality. Illinois has a $7.3 billion backlog of bills. We need to get our fiscal house in order before we consider an increase in spending or tax increases.”
