City of Gilman City Council met Jan. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the city council was called to order by Mayor Theesfeld. Council responding to roll call were: McGehee aye, Eimen aye, Kraft aye, Elliott aye, Bachman aye, and Fancher aye. Clerk Morris and Treasurer Johnson were also present.

Moved by McGehee             Seconded by Bachman

to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held on December 9, 2019. All aye.

Moved by McGehee             Seconded by Fancher

to approve the transfer of $15,000.00 from the general fund to the road & bridge fund. All aye.

Moved by Elliott                   Seconded by Fancher

to continue to hold the City Council’s regular meetings on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. All aye.

Moved by Kraft                     Seconded by Bachman

to approve the Gilman Community Fire Protection District’s request for a zoning variance to construct a new fire truck storage facility on its property located at the corner of W. Third and N. Chamberlain Streets, which is zoned residential, at the recommendation of the zoning board of appeals. All aye.

The council heard resident Chris Ishmiel speak about the crime that he feels has increased in Gilman.

Moved by Kraft                     Seconded by McGehee

to approve payment of $5,321.04 to Dennis Wittenborn for Monical’s from TIF 1 for reimbursement for the 2018 real estate taxes payable in 2019 and for approval of Resolution No. 19-20-R5. All aye.

Moved by Elliott                    Seconded by Bachman

to approve and adopt Resolution No. 19-20-R4 to abate $65,000.00 of the levy for the 2002/2011 bonds for the year 2019 real estate taxes. All aye.

Moved by Kraft                    Seconded by McGehee

to allow C-I Golden Eagles, LLC, d/b/a Crossroads Cantina & Catering to have a special one-day permit to serve alcohol earlier than allowed on a Sunday, starting at 9:00 a.m. on February 16, 2020. All aye.

Alderman Bachman had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Elliott had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Fancher had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Eimen had nothing to discuss.

Alderman McGehee had nothing to discuss.

Alderman Kraft inquired about jetting out a tile near Hamilton Street, and also advised of a dead tree at 130 N. Thomas, near the grade school, that needs to be removed. He suggested that perhaps that City could remove the tree with a backhoe.

Moved by McGehee             Seconded by Elliott

to approve the bills as they were presented, and to approve the Balance Sheet, and Profit and Loss Statement dated January 13, 2020 as presented. All aye.

Moved by Kraft                     Seconded by Fancher

to adjourn the regular meeting at 7:15 p.m. All aye.
