Village of Manteno Board of Trustees met Aug. 6.

The meeting was called to order by President Timothy O. Nugent. Roll call followed the Pledge of Allegiance, led by President Nugent.

Motion by Dole, seconded by Boyce to waive the reading of the minutes and approve the Regular Board Meeting minutes of July 20, 2020 as submitted by the Village Clerk.

Motion approved: 5-0 Crockett absent

Public Participation:

Reports of Village Officials:

Village President’s Report- Timothy Nugent

• Construction on First Street has been completed

• Octoberfest has been canceled for 2020

• Events planned for August has been canceled

The Mayor explained that there was no way for the Village to abide by all of the state rules on social distancing, so the Chamber and the Village had to make the decision to cancel events

Village Administrator’s Report- Chris LaRocque

• O’Reilly’s Auto Parts has started construction on the lot across from Village Hall

• Copelands on Main Street is close to being done and will be opening under new ownership with Anthony’s

• We have another couple of downtown business’s looking to do a TIF façade request. TIF will be done at the end of next year, so we have been prompting businesses that they need to take advantage of our TIF Façade program if they need to do updating of their business.

Committee Reports:

Public Works and Utilities- Trustee Boyce

• Consideration Re: A motion to award the proposal for the Manteno Village Hall Roof Replacement to Burklow Construction at a cost of $40,900.00 The roof on the Village Hall needs replacement. We sent out a Request for Proposal to sixteen roofing contractors, all registered with the Village. Burklow Construction was the only proposal we received. Mr. Burklow has done numerous roofs in the Village in the past without any issues. This is a budgeted item to be paid out of the TIF #1 fund.

The next Planning Commission meeting has been canceled for Tuesday 08-11-20 at 6:00 pm at the Village Board Room

• Payment of bills $51,021.59 includes TIF#1- $27,414.68

• Bills authorized and Paid between Board Cycle: $ $40,538.19

The next Finance meeting will be held Wednesday 08-19-20 at 7:00 am at the Village Hall

Conference Room.

Motion by Martin, seconded by Phillips, to approve a single roll call vote on the question of passage of agenda items. Motion Approved 5-0 Crockett absent

Motion by Dole, seconded by Gesky, to approve by an omnibus vote those ordinances, resolutions, motions and orders contained on the consent agenda.
