Watseka Volunteer Fire Department responded to 62 calls in 2018 - 8.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Watseka included 33 fires - 23 structure fires, one vehicle fire and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $1,400,400 in fire loss - or about $42,436 per fire.

The department also received 29 false calls, including one malicious call and 28 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
