Economic Alliance of Kankakee County issued the following announcement on Nov. 11.
Village of Bourbonnais trustees on October 19 approved the creation of the 145-acre “North Convent St. Business District.” The district encompasses 93 parcels, including 75 commercial and residential properties. The district is adjacent to the Community Campus planning area.
The district, the village’s second, will be funded by a 1 percent retailers occupation tax, service occupation tax and hotel operators occupation tax. Projected costs for infrastructure and business development within the district are anticipated to be $18 million over the 23-year life of the district, according to Economic Development Resources (EDR) of St. Louis.
The district will become active in April.
