The second half of 2020: Essex experienced a 23.5% drop in median home prices

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2020 in Essex fell by $46,250 while total sales decreased by 50%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2020, there were five homes sold, with a median sale price of $150,500 - a 23.5% decrease over the $196,750 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 10 homes sold in Essex in the second half of 2019.

The median sales tax in Essex for the most recent year with available data, 2019, was $3,284, approximately 2.2% of the median home sale price for the second half of 2020.
