City of Momence City Council Met March 15.

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.
ROLL CALL
Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Temple and Rehmer. Alderman Cook was absent.
APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
Alderman Metz made motion to approve the minutes of the, March 1, 2021, council meeting with the correction to the Budget and Finance minutes. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes.
APPROVAL OF THE BILLS
The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Metz seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Rehmer, Temple and Cope voting yes.
OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Salomone updated on Olivet students…meeting with the group every Wednesday. They will be present during the April 5 meeting to present, have moved onto the website. They are planning on coming back to Momence to take more pictures next Saturday. Alderman Metz: anymore updates from Baxter Woodman? Mayor indicated will be present at the next meeting. Also working on ordinances. There will be a presentation and questions answered at the next meeting.
Alderman Cope: purchasing of the new street signs – changed a few things to bring the cost down, save some money. Per Scott, we are 2 years behind on the code. The signs will be white with black lettering, made from aluminum. Total cost will be somewhere around $60,000.00. That will be for poles and signs. For signs only, total cost is $12000.00. The appropriation for the year, for signs is 10,000.00. Suggestion to get more questions answered, bring back for possible vote next meeting.
Social media – another draft was sent to the attorney, should have an answer and possible vote for next meeting.
33 Elm Street – still having issues with property and the garbage issue. Alderman Cope is looking for some kind of possible solution. Chief Brucato said that he was informed that the property was cleaned up. The fines have not been paid; Tina has been working on the tickets.
ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Salomone – Budget and Finance April 5, 7:15 PM
Alderman Rehmer – requested an executive session at the end of meeting. Also, asking if anyone had information on the massive house fires that occurred last week. Mayor indicated that he had sent a message, haven’t heard anything back
Treasurer report –
Department Heads – Scott indicated that brush/leaf pickup possibly starting next week or week after
Tina – April 15 last pay for the fiscal year, all bills need to be in.
MAYORAL REPORT – Requested to move to executive session to discuss employment/compensation also to discuss litigation and will be coming out to do business. Alderman Metz made motion to move into executive session, Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Metz, Clark, Cope, Temple and Rehmer voting yes.
