Village of Chebanse Village Board Met Feb. 22.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Mayor Mathy called the Re-scheduled Village Board meeting to order at 7:00 pm on February 22, 2021  and announced that the Village would be taping the meeting. 

The following Trustees were present: Trustee Beherns, Trustee Kohler, Trustee Perzee and Trustee  Snyder. Trustee Odle and Trustee Randles were absent. Also present were Mayor Mathy, Attorney Hiatt  and Clerk Pasel.  

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Mathy. 

APPROVAL OF REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a  second by Trustee Snyder to approve the January 18, 2021 Board meeting minutes. Vote: Beherns Aye

APPROVAL OF TREASURER’S REPORT: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee  Snyder to approve the January 31, 2021 Treasurer’s Report and start putting the donation fund money  into the Civic Center fund. Vote:

BILL STATEMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and second by Trustee Beherns to approve the  February 22, 2021 Bill Statement. Vote:

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES: Trustee Snyder reported that James has removed the snow from all of the  catch basins.

NEW BUSINESS: 

ORDINANCE NO. 21-01 REGARDING NUMBER OF LIQUOR LICENSES: A motion was made by Trustee  Beherns and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve Ordinance No. 21-01 An Ordinance Amending the  Village of Chebanse Liquor Control Ordinance Regarding Number of Licenses. Vote: Beherns Aye

AUDIT: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Perzee to approve the Audit  dated May 1, 2019 – April 30, 2020. Vote:

2021 LIQUOR LICENSE FEES: A motion was made by Trustee Perzee and a second by Trustee Snyder to  waive the Liquor License and the Amusement License fees for 2021. Vote:

CAMERA SYSTEM: A motion was made by Trustee Beherns and a second by Trustee Snyder to approve a  camera system with 8 cameras not to exceed $600.00 to cover Village Hall, bus stops and both  intersections. Vote:

COMMUNICATIONS: Mayor Mathy announced that the Census Bureau sent a Thank You note if anyone  would like to read it.  

PUBLIC COMMENT: Mayor Mathy stated he was subpoenaed to court concerning whether or not our  contract with the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department was legally binding in Iroquois. If the hours are  not listed as working on our invoice, does Kankakee County have jurisdiction to be on the Iroquois side? Trustee Beherns asked that the contract and intergovernmental agreement be placed on the March  agenda for clarification.
