More than 12 miles of road will be improved as part of three infrastructure projects in State Senator Patrick Joyce's (D-Essex) district thanks to a partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
The three IDOT projects are part of a $8.6 million investment for Senate District 40.
"These local infrastructure investments come at a critical tie for our communities and will help build a brighter future through a transportation network that serves all Illinoisans," Joyce posted on his Facebook page. "By improving road conditions for drivers, we are creating new jobs and giving our community a much-needed economic boost."
The projects include $1.2 million to improve 1.58 miles of Illinois Route 113 in Coal City to the Will County line, $5 million to rebuild 8.13 miles of state Route 102 on the Will County line to US 45/52, and $2.4 million for improvements to 2.53 miles of Western Avenue in Park Forest.
These upgrades are part of IDOT's multi-year plan through Rebuild Illinois that set aside $20.7 billion for construction projects across the state for the next six fiscal years, according to a release on Joyce's Senate website.
Projects that total $3.32 billion have already been designated and scheduled to start work in the coming year.
