City of Momence City Council Met Aug. 2.

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.
ROLL CALL
Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk. Alderman Huddelston was absent
APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES
Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the minutes of the, July 19, 2021 with amendments. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.
APPROVAL OF THE BILLS
The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Cook seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.
CITIZENS FORUM – Ann Cobb Momence Park District – ARP Covid funding. She has 25000.00 in expenses, looking to be reimbursement for this. She wants to apply for city, county and state. She is looking for help from the city to help apply to the fed. Mayor indicated more information is needed.
OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Starkey if Baxter and Woodman had answered questions. Alderman Salomone indicated that an email had been received. They had questions on calculations, but were referencing an outdated document. Mayor spoke to the city attorney today; they have another call tomorrow. Questions yet to be answered.
ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Salomone – BF meeting August 16, 7:15 PM. Also, approached Scott about tree trimming. Scott indicated that trees are trimmed/removed as needed.
Treasurer report –
Department Heads – Scott – MFT after festival, should be a fast process.
MAYORAL REPORT – whistle blower law/anti-retaliation resolution 212. Alderman Carbonaro made a motion to approve. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.
Fire department water usage – the city has not been charging for the water usage at the fire department. For the last many years, the fire department has been watering grass/flowers, washing cars (personal), etc. The city is going through many things with the water usage, we need to start charging the fire department, possibly a flat rate. All other municipalities do pay a flat rate for water. Mayor indicated a set fee would be appropriate, not looking for a vote tonight.
Updating our zoning map, by ordinance that is to be done almost yearly. This is an expensive process, more engineer fees. Possible cost of $10,000.00. This would stop a lot of the calls at city hall, this needs to be added to the city website and posted at city hall. Mayor will need to call Tyson to get bids/quotes.
Alderman Cook made motion to adjourn. Alderman Salomone seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.
