City of Momence City Council Met June 7.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk. Aldermen Carbonaro and Huddleston were absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Cook made motion to approve the minutes of the, May 17, 2021. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes. Alderman Cook passed.

CITIZENS FORUM –

i. Nancy Porter – Request for Street Closure W. Washington St. Heritage Days – West Washington alley to Dixie. Alderman Cook made motion to approve. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

ii. Eileen Crook- Street Closure N. Locust for Heritage Days – North Locust, Washington to Second Street from noon - ? for carriage rides. Alderman Cook made motion to approve. Alderman Starkey seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Temple – received 2 bids: $35150.00 and $52000.00 both would cover construction/warranty. Bid process was discussed with Stewart – does not need to put out for bid, council can decide. This will be put on the agenda to vote next meeting.

Alderman Salomone – spoke to Baxter Woodman about letters going out to discuss rate increase

ALDERMANIC REPORTS –

iii. Kristen Strunk – Discuss and vote on Ordinance to change the Special Event Liquor License Ordinance 860, changed from every 30 days to 1 per calendar month. Alderman Strunk made motion to approve. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Alderman Salomone – BF June 21, 7:15 PM

Appropriation process has started. Publication June 23, hearing July 5, vote July 19

Alderman Clark – MFT street repairs put out for bids, received $109000.00 from rebuild Illinois and $400000.00 from MFT.

River from Pine to alley 2.5 blocks

Franklin – Washington to Second

4th – Hickory to Sycamore

Market – 4th – 6th

Washington E downtown

River – Maple to 3rd

Locust 5th – 6th

Hickory off Second

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve bidding process. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Cook, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Alderman Cook – 704 N Dixie – disabled vehicles, property maintenance. Have they been ticketed? Chief to investigate

Treasurer report –

Department Heads – Scott – valve was fixed on highway, should be opened later this week. Water leak on South side fixed also.

Tina – health insurance rates up for renewal, these will be effective July 1

MAYORAL REPORT –

iv. Discuss and Vote on Sidewalk Dining application for Momence Café. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Mayor indicated that he, Mark, Scott and Stewart along with Baxter Woodman had a meeting on the facility plan on the sewer plant. More info to come later

Alderman Salomone made motion to adjourn. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Clark, Starkey, Cook, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Meeting adjourned at 7:53 PM
