City of Momence City Council Met June 21.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

The City Council Meeting of the City of Momence was held in the Council Chambers at 29 North Dixie Highway, Momence.

ROLL CALL

Roll was called by the Clerk with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk. Alderman Cook absent.

APPROVAL OF PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES

Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the minutes of the, June 7, 2021. Alderman Temple seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

APPROVAL OF THE BILLS

The bills were discussed during committee meeting. Alderman Salomone made motion to approve the bills for payment. Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

CITIZENS FORUM –

Jane Johnson Mainstreet …cruise nights successful, replacing signs 114 and rt 1, inviting council to take tour of downtown

OLD BUSINESS – Alderman Starkey water rates 40% increase, still working with Baxter/Woodman to respond to questions. Mayor is questioning Johnsonville rate with increase primary – 49,000.00, usage 16,000.00. Packing house = 43% of total usage.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS – Alderman Temple – police department roof, received 2 bids:

1. Mueller - 35150.00

2. Langlois – 52000.00

Alderman Temple made motion to approve bid from Mueller in the amount of 35150.00. Alderman Starkey seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Appropriation vote July 19

Treasurer report –

Department Heads – Tina health insurance renewal, premium dropped 775.00 from last year. Alderman Clark made motion to approve, Alderman Starkey seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

MAYORAL REPORT –

Resolution for Gladiolus Festival Street closures. Resolution # 211. Alderman Carbonaro made motion to approve. Alderman Clark seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Mayor requested executive session, not to come out to do business. Alderman Salomone made motion to go into executive. Alderman Starkey seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.

Adjourned 8:06 PM

Re-entered council open meeting 8:17 PM

Alderman Salomone made motion to adjourn. Alderman Carbonaro seconded the motion with Aldermen Salomone, Carbonaro, Huddleston, Clark, Starkey, Temple and Strunk voting yes.
