Village of Grant Park Village Board met Aug. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Note: Neil Piggush gave a first draft presentation to the general public, prior to the meeting of the proposed Streetscape plans, giving details of the project, and answering questions.

6:48PM Meeting called to Order/ Pledge

Roll Call was taken, all members present

*Motion to approve minutes from previous 8/02/21 previous meeting, with exemption that dumpster issue is still pending action

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Coats Motion Carried 6-0-0

Public Comments:

Valgene Raloff, representing the Historical Society spoke that they are having their Annual Golf outing 9/18/21 at Minne Monesse, asking for Village support, and that the Point School needs tuck-pointing on the chimney, asking permit fees be waived.

Dan Stadt, from the Grant Park Coop spoke of plans to widen the alleyway east of the USA restaurant for semi traffic to turn easier to the highway, spoke of engineering plans ongoing.

*Motion to approve Bills for Payment: <8/13/21 General Fund $10,041.47, Fest Account $72.00, Sewer Proceeds $11,750.00, T.I.F. $909.38, Payroll <8/07/21 $14,179.51, <8/10/21 $123.75, Stipend <8/13/21 $1275.00

Motion: Morgan 2nd: Coats Motion Carried 6-0-0

Departmental Reports:

Clerk Dillman: no report

Streets & Alleys, Coats: more road spray patching being looked in to being done, Fest preparation underway

Finance, Morgan: no report

Sewer & Garbage, Veldhuizen: speaking to Republic Services on recent issues

Building & Grounds, Bruni: Oktoberfest plans going well, still need volunteers, next meeting 9/6/21. Spoke to XL Broadband on park Wi-Fi, could have plans for next meeting.

Ordinance & Insurance, Raloff: recited Ordinances concerning garbage collection, and spoke of burning within Village limits Ordinances. Cyber insurance renewal coming due in December, spoke of religious freedoms, concerning current Ordinances.

Law Enforcement, Wiedl: no report

Chief Frey: Presented Officers Novak and Castillo a commendation for their recent involvement in recovering stolen guns and ammunition at a local residence.

Pres Hawkins: Voice approval to recommend draft #4 Village Sign

Discussion on how to best handle trash concerns
