Report: Herscher School District spent $12,389 per student in 2019-20

Spending per pupil at Herscher Community Unit School District 2 was up 13.6 percent from five years ago, according to the Kankakee Times analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2019-20 report card showed the Kankakee County school district spent $10,904 per pupil in 2015-16. It spent $12,389 in 2019-20.

The district's enrollment fell from 1,764 to 1,680 students over the same period.

Herscher's spending in 2019-20 was 14.5 percent lower than the state average of $14,492.
