City of Watseka Finance, Legal and Audit Committee met March 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

PRESENT: Aldermen Barragree, Cahoe, Marcier, Garfield, Miller, Alderwomen Ulfers and Musk  and Mayor Allhands 

ABSENT: Alderman Rushbrook 

Alderman Barragree opened the meeting at 7:16 pm. There was no public comment.  Alderman Garfield makes a motion to recommend to the Council to accept the  February Treasures report and Alderman Miller seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. 

Alderman Barragree stated last month he made a couple of transfers that should not have been  made as there is enough money in those funds for a few more years. Alderman Cahoe  makes a motion to rescind a motion to transfer $37,000 from general fund 1-10- 8000 into IMRF 4-10-9000 and Alderwoman Ulfers seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. Alderwoman Ulfers makes a motion to rescind a motion to transfer $20,000 from  general fund 1-10-8000 into social security fund 3-10-9000 and Alderman Miller  seconded. Roll call carried 8-0. 

Alderman Barragree stated the following transfers need to be made, Alderman Marcier  makes a motion to recommend to the council to transfer $173,178 from video  gaming 1-10-1048 into police pension fund 40-10-5005 and Alderman Miller  seconded. Roll call carried 8-0.  

Alderman Barragree stated he has given everyone a handout concerning the additional transfer  that needs to be made in the street and alley fund. He stated the reasons for the shortfall is :  road work projects not budgeted for and taken from streets and alleys fund, equipment  purchased and not budgeted, an additional street and alley employee hired and not budgeted  and overtime not budgeted due to extensive repairs made as a result of the boring companies.  After that discussion Alderwoman Ulfers makes a motion to recommend to the council  to transfer $354,628 from general fund 1-10-8000 into streets and alleys fund 6-10- 9000.  

Alderman Barragree also reported the Watseka Family Festival has a deficit of $219.46 that  needs to be taken care of. Alderwoman Ulfers makes a motion to recommend to the  council to reduce Watseka Family Festival Fund general fund cash account deficit  $219.46 and Alderman Marcier seconded. Roll call carried 8-0.  

Alderman Barragree stated he has been busy working on the upcoming fiscal year budget and  should have it ready to pass next month. 

Alderman Barragree makes a motion to adjourn at 7:20 pm and Alderwoman Ulfers  seconded. Roll call carried 8-0.
